Home modifications FAQs
What are home modifications?
Changes to your current home that make it safer and easier to live in. Examples are ramps, wider doorways, grab rails, accessible bathrooms and kitchen changes.
Is this only for NDIS participants?
No. We modify homes for older Australians in aged care, people funded by the TAC, WorkSafe or DVA, people paying privately, and NDIS participants.
Do I need an occupational therapist report?
Most funding bodies require one before they approve works. If you are paying privately, it is still recommended so the design fits how you live.
Do I need SDA funding for modifications?
No. Home modifications and Specialist Disability Accommodation are separate. For NDIS participants, modifications to your current home are funded from the Capital Supports budget in your plan.
How long do modifications take?
Minor works can often be completed within weeks. Larger works take longer, depending on design, quotes, funding approval and building permits. We give you a timeline before work begins.
Who does the building work?
Licensed and registered builders. We coordinate the builders, consultants and approvals, so you have one contact for the whole project.
